Cataract is the leading cause of blindness worldwide and can occur at any age. Majority of people are suffering from vision impairment and blindness with uncorrected refractive errors and cataract.Under the guidance of district pancahyat kollam, shalakya project started at Kollam district ayurveda hospital on september 2020. This project is based on treatment of eye, ear, nose and throat disorders. Diseases managed commonly are cataract, allergic rhinitis, severe headache, migraine, diabetic retinopathy, nasal polyp, chronic suppurative otitis media (csom). The consultation, investigations medications during treatment period is freely provided to patients. Modern equipments are available for vision testing, retina examination, ear cleaning, wax removal, iop checking and RTO specified vision tests for issuing driving license.
